Tis the Season! North Mississippi Family Photographer

It is that time of year again! Teacher gifts and as usual, we are waaaaaaaaaaay behind. So with 2 days left to whip something up and 5 teachers/aides to show our appreciation too, me and the kiddo's decided on this.
Cupcake in a Jar!
Who doesn't love cupcakes? I made these a little over 2 years ago for my sister's baby shower but that time in the dead of summer Orange Crush w/orange cream cheese frosting and Vanilla Bean w/chocolate frosting were on the menu! This time around we did a Red Velvet w/cream cheese frosting and Chocolate Vanilla w/chocolate peppermint frosting.

Packaged these babies up with bulap and some ric rac and called it a day!
What did you make/buy your kiddo's teachers?

The {H} Family! Southaven Mississippi Family Photographer

There is only one word for this family....F-U-N!
They came ready to get their photos taken! Sure there were a few bumps and bruises. Some blood from the wrestling and scrapped knee stained jeans, but what I love and have loved about this family for the 6 years + that I have known them, is that they are genuinely happy people with an incredible family!

I couldn't help myself! North Mississippi Natural Light Photographer

I have heard about this place for months. I have driven past this place for months. I have avoided it (well my back fat has) this place for months. Okay maybe not that long, but it feels like it!

I am a cupcake LOVER. I love the personal feeling you get when you pick that one cupcake out of the dozen. You know, the one that hasn't been quished or still has no small finger swipes on the side from children that have sworn they didn't touch any-fing" (wuh they have a slight slur)?

Well, I broke weak. I dragged my mother and baby girl in  AnnOlivia's to "check it out". I settled on a half dozen +1, because you know a girl has to watch her calories... that and during car pick up line I may or may not have ran 4 cars up the road to give a special treat to another mama waiting in the car line to pick up her kindergartner too!

2 Italian creme (jumbo) 2 caramel apple (petite) 2 triple chocolate (petite) 1 chocolate raspberry (petite).

I could not decide. It was hard. Everything looked wonderful and sparkly. THEY HAD SPARKLE!! That is like crack to a 4 year old sparkle loving princess grabbing my leg telling me to stop posing her food!

So I picked Italian Creme and took to Benadryl (unfortunately I am slightly allergic to nuts, but not enough to keep me away from this bad boy). Can I just say W-O-W?!

See that cupcake wrapper?
I have a habit of leaving it open to toss off what is usually much too thick or much too sweet.

I TORE that up. All of it. Every flipping coconut flake and pecan that didn't fall on the floor.

We found our new favorite sweet shop! If you haven't been to AnnOlivia's please go now!

Baby Andrew & Co. North Mississippi Newborn and family Photographer

There is nothing sweeter than siblings! 7 days new Andrew Grey proved to be the perfect addition to this beautiful family.
I could have spent all day photographing him and his family... but alas back to the real world! Thank you Jones family. Andrew was a treat. Emma Kate is such a great help and Topher was a beaming big brother!

It just happens... / North Mississippi Family Photographer

I haven't posted a picture of my baby in a while. It has been a long time since I have felt caught up with work and life. So much so that I swear time flies.

You wake up one morning and your youngest is already old enough for real preschool.

They want to pick their own clothes. They want nothing to do with the big bow (you know the one that is the size of their head?) because "princess hair is long and is always down mom", so they say as you look at that face in the mirror that has slowly changed on you.

Wait did she just call me MOM? I am not mom. I am mommy. MOMMY! I correct her before my heartburn flares. This is my baby. My LAST baby. 4 years old and still carrying her "granky" around the house with the chewed ends. The little girl that comes into my room humming her song that her daddy made up for her

"she's my pretty little Mimi....

My pretty little baby

My pretty little Mimi girl....."

and curls her little body into mine and falls back to sleep for 30 more precious minutes of sleep..

I don't even want to think about her getting older any time soon. 4 is enough.

Dylan is 1 Hernando Mississippi Baby Photographer

Dylan was a treat! When is mama contacted me about a shoot for him and his beautiful sister I suggested my home since there was a 90% chance of rain! We may need to seek shelter and what better place than a familiar one? As luck would have it, no rain just some sunshine in the form of a smiley 1 yr old!

ah... it is good to be 1!
A little sneak peek for his mama who graciously trampled in the mud for me!

Are you ready for summer?

because I am!

We have been sick and cooped up in the house for what seems like forever (okay 8 days, but with a 3 & 5 yr old that is like 20 days).

There hasn't been much sunshine so I have been working on studio lighting and trying to find the positive.

Here is the little punkett showing off one of her new summer duds from Itty Bitty & Co. here in Hernando!

phew, I feel warmer already!

Baby Channing is 3 months! Southaven Mississippi Baby Photographer

Oh my, if I could bottle 3 months up, it would look and be something like this baby girl!

I was slightly worried how she would react to being moved around and not in her mama's arms. She was a DREAM to work with, just like her newborn session! I can not wait to finish up this session which includes her beautiful siblings, but for now, a sneak peek for her mama.

The Little Dreamer Oakland TN Newborn Photographer

I had the oppertunity to photograph little Liam this week. 2 boys in one week! I could hardly contain my excitement! I love a newborn and any excuse to cuddle one!

He was such a sweet boy to work with. Thank you little Liam for being such a good baby!

Sweet Baby Beckett Southaven, Mississippi Newbown

Oh BOY! Baby Beckett made his entrance into the world 12 short days ago! Funny thing is, this little guy was a "surprise" baby. Mama was ready for either (yes, she did bring a bow the size of a newborns head) since pretty much most of us decided that after 3 big beautiful boys, someone would see fit to grace her with some pink in her life.......

Pink or not, he is one sweet baby boy.

Pouty little lips.......

and a smile to melt any one's heart.....

Welcome to the world Baby Beckett and to the Haley brood!

Oh the Post Process mumbo jumbo.....

To edit or not to edit, that is the question! In the photo taking world you will hear "get it right in the camera" well that ain't always going to happen. That was why photoshop was created right? Well that and to take the bags out from under the eyes and liquefy a few pounds. Can I get an amen?

So we do this thing at a very special secret private community (well there are many) and help each other. Other photo nuts take what is called a SOOC (straight out of the camera picture) and put our take/style and creativity to it.

So that is where this gal comes in!

*Disclaimer this is not my photo this was taken by a lovely lady in FL. and she has given me permission to edit and post this picture.

SOOC: as you can see it is OOF (out of focus) there are some major white balance issues and well, we will leave it at that.

My edit some odd 35 magical minutes later. I have masked/layered/prayed and cursed to get this:

Then I thought if this was my wedding picture, it would be more like this, because I am a sucker for a vintage dreamy look and I sometimes can't help but want a little texture.

Folks, it ain't just some fancy camera. It is a lot of time, effort and education.
I do what I do because I love faces. I love expressions. Taking a photo and turning it into something worthy of my little wall space and not just sitting in a pretty little album.
I would not be where I am today if it weren't for the help of many ladies guiding me and being hard on me.
So bless them....
